Iowa’s Carbon Reduction Strategy (CRS) supports efforts to reduce transportation emissions by identifying strategies and project types. The CRS was developed in consultation with Iowa’s nine Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs). The CRS draws on strategies and initiatives from existing MPO and Iowa DOT plans to form a cohesive, comprehensive, and concise strategy for the state.
A total of 17 individual strategies were developed under the following five categories.
- Multimodal Transportation
- Operational Efficiency
- Alternative Fuels
- Construction
- Other
Iowa DOT and Iowa’s MPOs can use the strategy to help support their efforts to reduce transportation emissions. Iowa DOT has incorporated the CRS into its State Transportation Plan by reference.
