There are many options available to help assist communities with the costs of improving and maintaining rail infrastructure in Iowa.

Rail Programs & Financial Assistance

  • Federal Aid Crossing Safety Program

    These crossing safety funds are used to install new crossing signal devices, and other low-cost improvements.

  • Grade Crossing Safety Repair

    This program assists in maintaining safe and smooth crossing surfaces at highway-railroad crossings.

  • Railroad Revolving Loan Grant Program

    This program improves rail facilities, creates jobs, spurs economic activity, and improves the rail system in general.
