INSPECTION & ACCEPTANCE OF POURED JOINT SEALERS
Poured joint sealers (both hot-poured and cold-poured) shall meet the requirements of applicable Iowa Department of Transportation specifications (4136.02, Paragraph A).
Acceptance of poured joint sealers for use on Iowa Department of Transportation projects will be on the basis of manufacturers and product name approval.
To obtain approval, the manufacturer shall submit the following to the Iowa Department of Transportation, Office of Materials, 800 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa 50010.
1. Product identification including brand name and product number
2. Technical literature and MSDS for the product
3. AASHTO National Transportation Product Evaluation Program(NTPEP) evaluation report for the product.
The Office of Materials may sample a batch at the job site, supplier, or source and test to verify compliance with the specifications.
