Questions and Answers
Q: If revenues are not increased in some way, what's the outlook?
A: Absent additional revenue for the public roadway system, Iowans can expect a dramatic decrease in pavement and bridge conditions in the coming years. In addition, congestion in and around urban areas and along much of the interstate (rural and urban) will increase significantly. Finally, corridor improvements on the Commercial and Industrial Network will not be addressed.
All of these impacts to the public roadway system end up damaging Iowa's economy. Transportation costs will increase for both the public and businesses, and opportunities for economic development will be lost to other states.
