Peer exchange

Video ConferenceThe Iowa Department of Transportation held a Research Peer Exchange on Aug. 18-20, 2009, in Ames, Iowa. RAC members from Region 3, along with Alaska, Washington and FHWA representatives were invited. Alaska and Illinois participated by videoconference. The topic of the peer exchange was "Most Promising Research."

On Wednesday, Aug. 18, the first day of the exchange, participants were asked to provide examples and a short presentation on their state’s most promising research projects. In addition to providing examples, participants addressed four questions.
  • What are your most promising projects?
  • How did you develop the project?
  • How will you evaluate its effectiveness?
  • What are your implementation and tech transfer plans?
All day Thursday and Friday morning, Aug. 19 and 20, participants attended the Mid-Continent Transportation Symposium. Friday afternoon was a peer exchange wrap-up meeting to summarize results of the exchange, the final report and next steps.
