Current letting schedule


The current letting schedule provides the list of current bid opportunities made available by the Purchasing Section of the Iowa DOT. This site contains bid opportunities for facility improvement projects, miscellaneous large and small equipment, vehicles miscellaneous goods and services. There are two types of bid solicitation. The method used is determined by Iowa Administrative Code based on the cost of purchase as defined herein.
  • 1. Formal
    A formal, sealed bid procedure is used for purchase of goods and/or services exceeding $50,000.00.

  • 2. Informal
    An Informal bid procedure is used for purchase of goods and/or services less than $50,000.00.

  • Request for Information
    (RFI) may be sought by the Department at any time for purposes of seeking industry knowledge of products or services.
Pertinent information regarding the bid solicitation along with links to all associated documents.is presented below in three different categories; Formal, Informal or RFI.

All correspondence, documents, addendums or other pertinent information will be posted below for each bid opportunity. Bidders will be required to visit this website periodically fo all updates. This information will no longer be sent to respective bidders once the bid proposal has been posted.

Please use the furnished mailing label included in each bid proposal, or include  “Iowa Department of Transportation, proposal number & letting date” on the outside of the return envelope.

Construction projects

The Iowa DOT's Purchasing Section will no longer provide plan holders lists of potential prime contractors. Sets of plans and specifications for construction projects are now attached to the bid opportunity located on this website. To the fullest extent possible, plan rooms will be utilized statewide for bidders to have the ability to print bid proposals, plans and specifications. Click here for a list of planrooms. Potential bidders will not be made available prior to the bid opening for projects.
