Request for Information
An RFI may be sought by the Department at any time for purposes of seeking industry knowledge of products or services. There are no awards or purchases made by the Iowa DOT for these types of requests.
The Iowa Administrative Code defines two types of solicitation; Formal and Informal based on thresholds of cost
- 1. Formal
A formal, sealed bid procedure is used for purchase of goods and/or services exceeding $50,000.00.
- 2. Informal
An Informal bid procedure is used for purchase of goods and/or services less than $50,000.00.
Please use the furnished mailing label included in each response, or include “Iowa Department of Transportation, proposal number & response date” on the outside of the return envelope.
The list of solicitations will be refreshed at 3 p.m. each day.
Construction projectsThe Iowa DOT's Purchasing Section does not provide the names of potential prime contractors prior to the response due date. Sets of plans and specifications for construction projects are now attached to the posted solicitation opportunity list. To the fullest extent possible, plan rooms will be utilized statewide for potential bidders to have the ability to print the solicitation, plans and specifications.
