The Iowa Department of Transportation's Purchasing Section is responsible for the procurement of equipment, materials, supplies, and services to fulfill the agency’s transportation mission. The Purchasing Section assists the agency by issuing requests for bids, proposals, or information as solicitation opportunities to a wide variety of suppliers, contractors or service providers. Purchasing agents then procure the requested goods and services at the best possible value and cost.
The Purchasing Section is located within the Operations and Finance Division’s Office of Finance. Purchasing personnel obey all federal and state laws, executive orders and rules concerning purchasing practices, including the prohibition of discriminatory practices.
The Office of Finance - Purchasing Section, supports the agency’s vision of SMARTER | SIMPLER | CUSTOMER DRIVEN by procuring goods and services in the most timely, cost effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner possible.
