Iowa DOT Funding Guide
With the enactment of MAP-21, the federal surface transportation authorization act,
many of the federal programs have been changed or eliminated. These changes became
effective on Oct. 1, 2012 , but many of the implementation details have not been released.
Information on MAP-21 can be found on the Iowa DOT’s MAP-21 website, and some specific
program information is available via contact information for administering offices at the end
of each program section.
Revised August 2012
This is a guide compiled by the staff of the Iowa DOT to help local governments, organizations and individuals with preliminary searches for funding assistance from the Iowa DOT. Programs that fit more than one grouping are listed more than once in the table of contents, and duplicate information for these programs is also contained in the body of the Funding Guide. The individual pages are linked to the table of contents, so you can click on the topic listed in the table of contents and it will take you directly to the page describing that program.
The Iowa DOT encourages you to direct your questions and requests for additional information to the office or agency noted for each program. The Iowa DOT is interested in your comments regarding the Funding Guide. If you have comments or suggestions on how we can make it more useful, please contact the district engineer or transportation planner for the area. To find the name of the contact person in your area, consult the maps in the back of this guide.
