We want to hear from you!

At the link to the right, please find the initial report for the Iowa Statewide Rest Area Management Plan. In 2012, approximately 15 million travelers visited Iowa interstate full service rest areas. There are currently 40 full service rest areas in Iowa. Of the 40 full service rest areas, 39 are open year round.

Rest areas represent a substantial infrastructure and operational investment for the Iowa DOT. The primary goal of this study is to document rest area needs and develop an implementation plan so that the Iowa DOT can make informed planning and programming investment decisions for rest areas into the future.

The Department will be utilizing the information within this initial report to develop an implementation strategy regarding the rest areas throughout the state. It is our intent to conclude that effort by Fall of 2013.

After reviewing this initial report, we would appreciate any additional input you may offer to aid in guiding development of the implementation plan. Thank you for taking the time to share your input
