DOT small equipment auction April 26

AMES, Iowa – A public auction of state-owned equipment will be held by the Iowa Department of Transportation on the DOT grounds in Ames, Saturday, April 26, beginning at 9 a.m.

Equipment for offices and shops, automotive supplies and many other items are included in the sale. The sale will be held in the blue building south of the DOT's sign shop on South Fourth Street.

Office equipment to be sold includes typewriters, copiers, facsimile machines and other items. Many tables, desks, computer tables and chairs will be sold.

Included in the shop equipment are an air compressor, grinders, mowers, toolboxes and chests, cabinets, etc.

Automotive supplies in the sale include tires, radios, jack stands, light bars, battery chargers and other items.

Also included in the sale are camera equipment, projectors, file cabinets, bookcases, shelving units, and much more.

Items for sale may be inspected at the sale site from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, April 26.

Payment for the items must be made the day of the sale by cash, cashier's check or certified check. Personal or company checks will be accepted if they are accompanied by satisfactory identification. Items may be removed from the DOT grounds after full payment has been made and buyers have receipts for their purchases. All items purchased must be removed by Friday, May 2, 2008.

Sales tax will be collected. Dealers must provide tax-exemption numbers to be exempted from the tax. Prospective bidders who have permanent bid numbers are asked to bring those numbers to the auction.

Lynch Auction Company of Boone will conduct the auction. Coffee, sandwiches and cold drinks will be available at the auction site.
