Iowa 60 Sibley bypass to open tomorrow

CHEROKEE, Iowa – According to Iowa Department of Transportation officials, the Iowa 60 Sibley bypass will be opening to traffic on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, weather permitting.

Although the bypass is opening to traffic, construction work will continue in the area with a short portion of head-to-head traffic on both ends of the bypass to construction the connections for the new southbound lanes.

The 2 nd Avenue interchange will not be opened until the permanent connection is built into Sibley. Motorists entering Sibley can use the Osceola County Road
A-22 or Iowa 9 interchanges.

Cedar Valley Corp. of Waterloo is the Prime Contractor for this project. The cost of this project is approximately $20.25 million.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution and to obey posted signs in the construction area.
