AMES, Iowa – Aug. 14, 2007 - The Iowa Transportation Commission today approved a Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Immediate Opportunity grant application submitted by Hancock County. Up to $270,000 will be made available to assist in paving 2,600 feet of Welch Avenue and 2,700 feet of 240th Street. The improvements are necessary to provide access to the Harvest Biofuels, LLC’s new ethanol plant near Garner. This ethanol processing plant will annually produce 110,000 million gallons of ethanol as well as distillers dried grains, a byproduct, using a dry milling process. The roadway project will support the creation of 45 new jobs at Harvest Biofuels, LLC and $186.7 million in associated capital investment. Funding for the grant comes from the county share of the RISE fund.
