AMES, Iowa – The Iowa Transportation Commission today approved a Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Immediate Opportunity grant application submitted by Ida County. Up to $78,000 will be made available to assist in the reconstruction of 2,219 feet of 159th Street and Marshall Avenue. The improvements are necessary to provide access to the Maple River Energy, LLC’s new soybean processing and biodiesel facility near Galva. Maple River Energy, LLC plans to produce 5 million gallons of biodiesel and 75,000 tons of soybean meal, a high-quality feed ingredient for livestock. The plant will also yield 5 million pounds of glycerin to be used in the cosmetics industry. The plant will create a demand for 3 to 5 million bushels of soybeans annually. The roadway project will support the creation of 13 new jobs at Maple River Energy, LLC and $14.86 million in associated capital investment. Funding for the grant comes from the county share of the RISE fund.
