Iowa Transportation Commission
approves grant for Buena Vista County

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa Transportation Commission today approved a Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Immediate Opportunity grant application submitted by Buena Vista County. Up to $300,000 will be made available to construct turning lanes and resurface approximately 2,200 feet of Buena Vista County Road
M-27.

The improvements are necessary to provide access to the Oregon Trails Energy, LLC’s proposed ethanol plant northwest of Alta. The roadway project will support the creation of 50 new jobs and $219.8 million in associated capital investment.

Oregon Trails Energy, LLC intends to build a corn-based grain processing facility with ethanol as its main product using 40 million bushels of corn annually. The production capacity will be 110 million gallons of ethanol per year. Funding for the grant comes from the county share of the RISE fund.
