DOT offices closed for Veterans Day AMES, Iowa -All Iowa Department of Transportation driver's license stations and the motor carrier Permit Center will be closed Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, in observance of Veteran's Day. All Iowa Department of Transportation driver's license stations and the motor carrier Permit Center will resume normal operations on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005. Truckers and other commercial vehicle operators needing permits for registration, fuel, authority, or oversize loads to travel in Iowa on that day will need to get all permits in advance. The permit center will be open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, and normal operations will resume Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005. The permit center, located at Park Fair Mall, 100 Euclid Ave., Des Moines, is a one-stop source for fuel and trip permits, routing for oversize loads, IRP (international registration plan) registration, IFTA (international fuel tax agreement) licensing, and travel authority needed by truckers to operate in Iowa. ### |
