Autumn
--- A great time to enjoy a blaze of color in Iowa
AMES,
Iowa – Autumn in Iowa is anything but one-dimensional with a bumper crop of
fall festivals and special events, the flamboyant fall foliage, harvest season,
hunting, football, and the crisper, downward turn of temperatures.
People often travel
hundreds to thousands of miles to see the annual leaf color change in different
parts of the U.S., but in Iowa we are fortunate that the autumn beauty is often
close by, or just a few hours away from our back door. The
most popular way to enjoy the splashy color of autumn in Iowa is just to get out
and do it. Put on your long-sleeves and get ready to experience the fall
fragrances, listen to the dry leaves crunch underfoot, and witness the brilliant
yellows, reds, oranges, golds--- even deep purple. Your
ticket to a fantastic fall is the wealth of travel, tourism and plant
information available on the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Web site: www.dot.state.ia.us.
