I-80 patching project to close lanes in east central Iowa

DAVENPORT, IA – A patching project on Interstate 80 in Iowa, Johnson, and Cedar counties that will reduce traffic to one lane is now underway, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.  In addition, some ramps at the I-80/380 interchange will be closed for short periods.

Work on the project consists of removing and replacing damaged sections of the roadways.  The contractor is starting the patching in Iowa County and  will continue east until the project has been completed.    Work on this project will be accomplished at night except for some work that will be done on nearby rest areas and on some low volume interchange ramps. Work on the I-80/380 interchange will require ramp/loop closures.  When this occurs, traffic will be detoured to the nearest interchange.  All remaining traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction throughout the work zone.  Motorists are urged to remain alert and use caution when traveling through these areas.

Iowa Erosion Control, Inc., of Victor, Iowa, is the contractor for the $290,000 project.  Work is scheduled for completion in September 2004.
