Business hours scheduled to change at some
Iowa DOT-operated driver’s license stations

AMES, Iowa – Effective Friday, July 30, eight driver's license stations operated by the Iowa Department of Transportation will be changing their business hours in an effort to enhance customer service.

By closing offices on Mondays at these locations, the DOT is able to increase the number of employees serving customers Tuesday through Saturday. This change will help to further minimize the waiting time for customers at these busy locations, getting everyone in and out as quickly as possible.

On July 30, the hours at the driver’s license examining stations in Ames, Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Iowa City, Sioux City, and Waterloo will be:

Tuesday - 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday through Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday - 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In Des Moines, the hours will be:

Tuesday - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday through Friday - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday - 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The remaining 10 DOT stations, located in Burlington, Carroll, Clinton, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown, Mason City, Muscatine, Ottumwa and Spencer, will maintain their current Tuesday through Saturday schedule.

The DOT is committed to providing the highest level of customer service within available resources and will continue to examine hours of service and make adjustments, as necessary.
