FLY IOWA provides free aviation experience for the entire family

AMES, Iowa – The FLY IOWA 2004 aviation fair and air show will be held at the Washington Municipal Airport Saturday and Sunday, June 5- 6. This year’s FLY IOWA commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the June 6, 1944, D-Day invasion.

Numerous activities for kids and adults will provide a fun and educational aviation experience. Free airplane rides will be offered to children ages 8-17. Many planes will be on display and in the air including military, antique, and experimental aircraft.

Special attractions will include displays and flights of World War II era aircraft including a B-25 Mitchell and P-51 Mustang. Airplane rides will be available on selected war birds. Air show performances will feature skydivers, war birds, and aerobatic performances in high performance aircraft.

Admission and parking to FLY IOWA is free. Activities both days start at 9 a.m. with air show performances from 2 to 4 p.m. On Saturday evening, a USO show and dance will be held at the airport.

FLY IOWA is sponsored and promoted by the Iowa Aviation Promotion Group and supported by the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation. Washington was selected as the host community based upon its strong record of successful community events and the facilities at Washington Municipal Airport.
