Iowa DOT Permit Center closed for computer work and holiday

AMES, IOWA -- Truckers and other commercial vehicle operators needing permits for registration, fuel, authority, or oversize loads to travel in Iowa Saturday or Sunday, Nov. 8-9, 2003, will need to get them in advance because the Iowa DOT's Regional Permit Center will be closed due to a scheduled move of DOT computers.

The permit center will be open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, but will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, in observance of Veteran's Day. Normal operations will resume Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003.

The permit center, located at Park Fair Mall, 100 Euclid Ave., Des Moines, is a one-stop source for fuel and trip permits, routing for oversize loads, IRP (international registration plan) registration, IFTA (international fuel tax agreement) licensing, and travel authority needed by truckers to operate in Iowa and several other states.
