Improvements
to U.S. 20 in Dubuque County AMES, Iowa – The proposed improvements to U.S. 20 in Dubuque County from Peosta to just east of the Northwest Arterial in Dubuque will be discussed at an location design public hearing Thursday, Nov. 6. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) will hold the hearing in the Shot Tower Conference Room, Best Western Dubuque Inn, 3434 Dodge Street, Dubuque. The public is invited to attend at any time from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The
purpose of the hearing is to discuss the preferred alternative for this area,
the impacts of this alternative and the environmental document completed for
this project. This public hearing will be conducted utilizing an open forum format. No formal presentation will be made, but Iowa DOT personnel will be present with plans, displays and related information to discuss the project informally with interested individuals. A
copy of the Environmental Assessment will be available for inspection at the
hearing and is also available for viewing at the Carnegie-Stout Public Library,
360 W. 11th Street, Dubuque, Iowa; at the Burton Payne Library,
Northeast Iowa Community College – Peosta Campus, 10250 Sundown Road, Peosta,
Iowa; and at the Dubuque County Library, 310 4th Street SW, Farley, Iowa. A review deadline of Nov. 17, 2003, has been established for receipt of comments on this document. All comments received on the environmental assessment by that date will be considered by the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration in their evaluation of the environmental impacts of the project. Comments on the environmental assessment should be submitted to the Director, Office of Location and Environment, 800 Lincoln Way, Ames IA 50010. Individuals may attend the hearing any time during the scheduled hours to express their views and ask questions about the proposed improvement. Oral and written statements will also be accepted at the public hearing. All comments received by Nov. 17 concerning topics discussed at the hearing will be included in the transcript. Pertinent information, which has been developed by the Iowa DOT in the planning and design of this project, and correspondence received from governmental agencies or public advisory groups interested in or affected by the proposed highway improvement, will be available for inspection at the hearing.
