small equipment auction Sept. 27 AMES, Iowa – A public auction of state-owned equipment will be held by the Iowa Department of Transportation on the DOT grounds in Ames Saturday, Sept. 27, beginning at 9 a.m. Equipment
for offices and shops, automotive supplies and many other items are included in
the sale. The sale will be held in the blue building south of the DOT's sign
shop on South Fourth Street. Office
equipment to be sold includes typewriters, shredders, copiers, calculators,
cellular telephones, and other items. Included
in the shop equipment are generators, pressure washers, air jacks, jack hammers,
band saws, generators, grinders, and much more. Automotive
supplies in the sale include pickup tool boxes, Tommy lift gates, truck seats,
truck mirrors, tires, inner tubes, tire chains, grease guns, radios, battery
chargers and other items. Other
items in the sale include camera equipment, projectors, cassette
player/recorders, surveyor transits, distance meters, file cabinets, bookcases,
shelving units, desks, chairs, vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, and much more. Items
for sale may be inspected at the sale
site from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sept. 27.
Payment
for the items must be made the day of the sale by cash, cashier's check or
certified check. Personal or company checks will be accepted if they are
accompanied by satisfactory identification. Items may be removed from the DOT
grounds after full payment has been made and buyers have receipts for their
purchases. The DOT reserves the right to request certified funds. All items
purchased must be removed by Friday, Oct. 3, 2003. Sales
tax will be collected. Dealers must provide tax exemption numbers to be exempted
from the tax. Prospective bidders who have permanent bid numbers are asked to
bring those numbers to the auction. Kellner
Auction Services from Rutland, Iowa, will conduct the auction. Coffee,
sandwiches and cold drinks will be available at the auction site. A
