Iowa Transportation Commission to hold public input meeting

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa Transportation Commission will meet in Fort Dodge, Tuesday Aug. 12, to discuss transportation matters with representatives of local government, interest groups and individuals.

This is the third of four public input meetings being held around the state this year to make it more convenient for representatives of Iowa metropolitan planning organizations, regional planning affiliations, cities, counties, chambers of commerce, economic development groups and other interest groups, as well as individuals, to present ideas and comments directly to the commission.

Items that may be discussed at the meeting include the State Transportation Improvement Program; transportation policies; highway, aviation, rail, river and transit issues.

The meeting will be held at The Starlight Village Motel, junction of Iowa 7 and U.S. 169, beginning at 8 a.m. For more information concerning the meeting, contact the DOT Office of Program Management at 515-239-1148.

Monday, Aug. 11, the commissioners will meet informally and tour transportation projects in northwest Iowa. No action will be taken on transportation-related matters during the tour.

In addition to the Fort Dodge meeting, another commission public input meeting has been tentatively scheduled for Osceola Oct. 14.

To obtain a scheduled time on the agenda for one of the commission’s public input meetings, contact the Iowa DOT’s Office of Program Management, 800 Lincoln Way, Ames, IA 50010, telephone 515-239-1148, fax 515-239-1975, e-mail donald.tebben@dot.state.ia.us.
