Iowa Aviation Conference to be held in Ames

AMES, Iowa -  The annual Iowa Aviation Conference will be held Oct. 8 and 9 at the Hotel at Gateway Center in Ames. Again this year, the conference is co-sponsored by the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation and Iowa Public Airports Association (IPAA) and is open to the public. A record attendance is expected this year.

The conference is the premier event in Iowa for all persons interested in Iowa’s air transportation system to assemble for education, planning and discussing aviation issues facing Iowa. Recent years have seen many community leaders, legislators, educators and business people taking part, along with the aviation community.

Confirmed speakers for this year’s event include: Ellen Gordon, Iowa’s Homeland Security coordinator; Jim Coyne, president of the National Air Transportation Association; Kenny Schrader, NASCAR Winston Cup driver; and Greg McDermott, head basketball coach of the UNI Panthers.

Early registration is $75 for both days, including materials and meals. Registration at the door will be $90. For more information, and on-line registration, visit www.iowaairports.org, or call Mike Salamone, IPAA secretary at 515-256-5180.
