DOT to co-sponsor aviation camp AMES,
Iowa - The Iowa Department of Transportation's Office of Aviation, in
cooperation with the Iowa Aviation Promotion Group, is sponsoring a youth summer
camp June 9 - 12 at the 4-H Education and Natural Resource Center near Madrid. The
focus of the overnight camp will be "Travel Your Universe: Rockets, Robots,
Airplanes, Stars and DNA!" The children involved in the camp will gain both
classroom and hands-on experience with science and aerospace activities. In the
evening the Ames Astronomy Club will set up telescopes for viewing. The
camp is available to youth ages 9 to 12 years, with a maximum of 50 children.
The cost is $110 if registered prior to May 20 and $140 if registered after May
20. Registration includes all meals. The camp is completely supervised by adults
trained in first aid. The registration form is available at www.iawings.com on
