Mailings

What are the Local Systems mailings?

As a service to local governments, the Office of Local Systems distributes a variety of transportation-related information via e-mail on a regular basis. This information typically includes: changes to policies or procedures; funding opportunities; conferences, workshops or other training opportunities; job openings at the Iowa DOT, local governments or other transportation agencies; and other information that may be of interest to local transportation officials, their consultants and other transportation agencies.

Where can I view mailings that have been sent?

To view a PDF of a recent mailing, use the "Mailing search." You may search by subject, date or date range, or the group the mailing was sent to. Mailing documents are typically available using the search page within one to two weeks after they were sent.

How can I get on the Local Systems mailing list?

It is easy. Complete the mailing "Request form." The information you provide on the request form will be used strictly for official Iowa DOT business, and not shared with anyone outside the Iowa DOT.
Please note: It will be your responsibility to keep your contact information updated. If we find that your e-mail is no longer valid, you will be removed from our mailing list without any notification. To update your contact information, simply complete and submit the request form again.

Can I have something sent to the Local Systems mailing list?

The Office of Local Systems has sole discretion concerning the type of information that may be sent to our mailing list. We do not advertise products or services offered by private individuals or companies, unless those products or services are directly related to an initiative sponsored or supported by the Iowa DOT or one of our transportation partner organizations. Mailings are usually sent out within two working days of receipt, but other priorities may govern when we can send your information. Therefore, if you have time-sensitive information, please provide as much lead time as possible.

Note: There is a retention policy on all mailings. Letters, memos, and other general correspondence that does not warrant longer term retention are retained for three years from the end of the calendar year in which the document was created. For 15 years from the end of the calendar year in which the document was created, we maintain documents that outline or explain current policies, procedures, guidelines or recommendations that may not be formally document elsewhere.

If you have questions or would like to send information to our mailing list, please contact Gail Nordholm at Gail.Nordholm@dot.iowa.gov or 515-239-1528.
