Chicago to Dubuque Passenger Rail

Recent efforts have been underway by Illinois DOT to restore twice daily round trip passenger rail services between Chicago and Rockford. This project received $275 million from the 2019 Rebuild Illinois state capital program, and as of early 2021, has begun preliminary engineering activities with the route stakeholders. Potential future expansion concepts for the corridor between Rockford and Dubuque will continue to be studied, with ECIA/DMATS currently commissioning an updated feasibility study for this route segment, utilizing funds granted to them through Illinois DOT’s statewide planning funds.

IOWA CITY-NORTH LIBERTY COMMUTER RAIL CONCEPTUAL FEASIBILITY STUDY

The purpose of this Iowa City-North Liberty Commuter Rail Conceptual Feasibility Study (the Study) is to incorporate previous work performed between 2015 to 2017 that considers the potential for commuter rail service implementation between Gilbert Street in Iowa City, Iowa, and Penn Street in North Liberty, Iowa .
