Rail Transportation Plan
The Rail Service Plan specifies how the Iowa Department of Transportation intends to implement investment actions identified in Iowa's State Transportation Plan.
The State Transportation Plan was developed through an extensive planning effort known as Iowa in Motion. It was the first time a transportation plan considered investments in aviation, bicycle and pedestrian, highways, intermodal, rail, transit, and waterways in one plan.
The Iowa Rail System Plan details the state's role in providing and preserving adequate, safe and efficient rail transportation services to Iowans. It is intended to serve as a guide for decision-makers. The plan provides a basis for future department policy, funding priorities and programming decisions that affect rail transportation service in Iowa.
The Rail System Plan is broken down into sections on this site to reduce the file size. Below are links to the individual pdf sections.
