Trail closures

Black Hawk County

Cedar Valley Nature Trail: Sections of this trail still closed since 2008. For a map of the closed sections, please see the map on the Iowa Northland Council of Governments Web site.

Cedar Rapids/Linn County Trails

Boyson Trail: The entire length of the trail is closed. Marion Parks Director Richard Fox is asking the public not to use the trail to avoid interfering with the cleanup and rebuilding efforts. Not only does the surface of the trail need restoration, but in some sections the subbase will also need repair. Trail repairs may take as long as two months. The Parks Department plans to have some of the trail and the parks (Boyson and Thomas) open for use on Oct. 15, 2009. For more information, please visit the Linn County Trails Association Web site.

Sac and Fox Trail: Flood repairs on the Sac and Fox Trail suffered a temporary setback. The bridge across Indian Creek at Mount Vernon Road had been restored, but the bridge connecting the Sac and Fox Trail and the Indian Creek Nature Center is now displaced. Several areas of the trail experienced additional damage. The Sac and Fox remains closed for flood repairs, perhaps until October. For more information, please visit the Linn County Trails Association Web site.

Dubuque County

Heritage Trail: Sections of this trail still closed since 2008. Closed sections are impassable and signed. Please DO NOT enter these areas. There are no county road detours to connect the sections. Work continues every day to repair the trail and we have three major bridges that must be reconstructed so it will take some time to complete repairs to reopen the entire trail. For more information and a map of the closed sections, please visit the Heritage Trail Public Notice on the Dubuque County Web site.
