Cottage Grove to Des Moines River &
Keo Way interchange

Note: This construction project has been completed.

Project Description:
Mainline work
2006 is year one of a two year project to rebuild the freeway's mainline traffic lanes from Cottage Grove to just east of the Des Moines River. This year's mainline work includes reconstruction of the entire westbound roadway, and the section of the eastbound roadway from Cottage Grove Avenue to Keo Way.

Keo Way interchange
The Keo Way interchange work is the third phase of a multi-phase project. This phase involves reconstruction of Keo Way underneath I-235, building the new eastbound exit ramp to northbound and southbound Keo Way, and construction of the new westbound entrance ramp and a portion of the new eastbound entrance ramp. At the completion of this phase, all ramps to and from Keo Way, except the eastbound entrance ramp, will be opened. The eastbound entrance ramp will not open until summer 2007.

In addition, the inside portion of the westbound Des Moines River Bridge will be rebuilt.

Traffic Impacts:

Short- and longer-term entrance and exit ramp closures will be required at various locations along this section.
Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained during peak hours on the mainline.
One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Keo Way.

Project Schedule:

March 2006 - December 2006 - Mainline construction is scheduled.

November 2005 - Dec. 2006 - The eastbound exit and entrance ramps at the Keo Way interchange will be reconstructed. New mainline bridges will also be built in the interchange area.
