Project
Description:
The Keo Way interchange will be reconstructed. Work
will be completed in stages.
Stage
1: Reconstruction work on the north side of I-235 began
in Mid Sept. 2004. The exit and entrance ramps in this
area are being rebuilt.
Stage
2: Involves grading and building two new bridges over
Keo Way for the mainline traffic lanes of I-235.
Project Schedule: Mid Sept. 2004 - Dec. 2006

Stage 1:
Mid Sept. 2004 - summer 2005 - The westbound exit
ramps to Keo Way north and south were reconstructed.
A new westbound ramp bridge was built over
Keo Way.
Stage 2:
Summer 2005 - Dec. 2006 - The eastbound exit and
entrance ramps will be reconstructed. New mainline
bridges will also be built in the interchange
area.

Traffic
Impacts:

Stage 1:
- The westbound exit ramp to Keo Way north was closed. (reopened June 2005)
- The westbound exit loop to Keo Way south was closed. (reopened June 2005) |

Stage 2:
- Westbound
mainline traffic was diverted onto the new ramp
lanes and the bridge that was built during Phase 1.
- Eastbound mainline traffic will remain on their existing lanes.
- The eastbound exit to southbound Keo Way closed in June 2005.
- The westbound entrance ramp from 12th St. has closed permanently. |
The suggested alternate routes will be the 19th St./MLK
Jr. Pkwy, the 6th/7th, and the 2nd/3rd interchanges.
