63rd Street/Iowa 28 Interchange

Project
Description:
A new
bridge will be built over I-235 and the interchange will
be reconstructed. Demolition and construction of the northbound
traffic lanes will take place first. The northbound lanes
were completed in Nov. and work began on reconstruction
of the bridges' southbound lanes.
Project Schedule: July 2004 - summer 2005

Aug. 4 - Nov. 2004 - Traffic will be reduced to
one lane in each direction on the west half of
the bridge while the east half is rebuilt.
Nov 2004 - summer 2005 - Traffic will be switched
to the new lanes and work will begin on the west
half of the bridge.

Traffic
Impacts:
One
lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained
on 63rd Street through the construction area.
Some
ramp access will be available during various stages
of construction. The ramps on the east side of the bridge
(WB exit and EB entrance) have been reconstructed, and
are now open. The other two ramps (WB entrance and EB
exit) are closed and under construction in conjunction
with the southbound lanes reconstruction.
