Rebuilding of I-680

I-680 reconstruction time lapse
Due to forecasted inclement weather, the Interstate 680 grand reopening ceremony being hosted by the Iowa Department of Transportation will be held at the Crescent Fire Station. The public is welcome to attend.

I-680 will open at approximately 2 p.m. on Wednesday led by vehicles representing the contractors responsible for the fast-track rebuilding of the highway.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.

Where: Crescent Fire Station, 102 W. Florence St.

Parking: Parking will be available at the Pink Poodle Steakhouse, 633 Old Lincoln Highway; limited parking will also be available along Florence Street.


Directions: From Council Bluffs; head north on I-29; take exit 61A toward Crescent; turn right onto Pottawattamie County Road 988 (Old Mormon Bridge Road); turn left onto Old Lincoln Highway; the Pink Poodle Steakhouse will be on the right.

Participants and guests will receive a specially packaged piece of recycled I-680 pavement as a memento of the destructive force of the Missouri River flooding and Iowa DOT's fast-track rebuilding and recovery effort.
