CORRUGATED POLYETHYLENE TUBING


 

GENERAL

Corrugated polyethylene (PE) tubing, couplings, and fittings for subsurface drainage shall meet the requirements of Section 4143.01B of the Standard Specifications of the Iowa Department of Transportation.

 

Corrugated Polyethylene Tubing utilized on federally funded projects shall be manufactured in the USA and marked as such.

 

Acceptance of these materials will be based on approved manufacturing plant.

 

MANUFACTURING PLANT APPROVAL

Application for manufacturing plant approval shall be made to the Construction and Materials Bureau in Ames and shall include product technical information and a description of product quality control procedures.

 

Initial approval will be based on the review of the information in the application. A current report of successful AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions plant audit will be used for manufacturing plant approval. Continued plant approval requires facility submission into the AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions THP audit work plan and successful yearly audits.

 

Approved manufacturing plants for corrugated PE tubing and fittings used for subsurface drainage are listed in Appendix A.

 

ACCEPTANCE

Acceptance shall be on the basis of approved manufacturing plants listed in the Materials Approved Products Listing Enterprise (MAPLE) and IM 107 certification of compliance.

 

MONITOR SAMPLING & TESTING

Sampling and testing at the project site will be based on requests from the Central Construction and Materials Bureau. Samples shall contain the date and plant code.

 

Department monitor test samples at the manufacturing plant will be at the discretion of the District Materials Engineer and / or the Construction and Materials Bureau. Deficient test results or poor workmanship on any monitor sample may be considered sufficient cause for removing a plant from the list of approved manufacturing plants.
