Standard Road Plans
The standard road plans contained in this manual (commonly referred to as the "Red Book") have been developed to show standardized design features, construction methods and approved materials to be used in design plans for interstate, primary and secondary road construction in the state of Iowa. These standard road plans are not intended to provide solutions to design problems. Where specific design problems require special solutions, the standard road plans may be modified.
Refer to Section 1E-5 of the Design Manual for guidelines for modifying standard road plans.
