Crash Analysis

SAVER

SAVER
Safety, Analysis, Visualization and Exploration Resource
SAVER is Iowa's primary traffic safety analysis resource. The primary purpose of SAVER is to serve the needs of analysts using Iowa traffic crash data, but it also contains other data (e.g., roadway, rail, river, corporate limits, etc.) vital to the analysis of safety. Additionally, SAVER will read data (e.g., traffic citations, crime incidents, operating while intoxicated) from the existing National Model/TraCS software.

SAVER is the Iowa traffic safety analysis resource which facilitates in-depth analysis. Other tools are available for quick, less-detailed analyses. These tools might be more appropriate for users who primarily respond to requests for overall crash frequencies within a political jurisdiction or at a particular site. SAVER, on the other hand, is the resource which enables detailed drill-downs and provides access to the entirety of the databases.

Saver download

SAVER download
Contains links enabling downloads of the SAVER encrypted project file and the system files required for SAVER functions (e.g., dialogs, queries, reports, stacking). The files are contained in ZIP files and must be extracted before use. You may want to consult the SAVER training guide, manual, and formats prior to extracting the files as the current version of SAVER has no installation wizard and requires the main directory to be located within C:\ root. This can be adjusted on a case by case basis. Contact Michael.Pawlovich@dot.iowa.gov for these cases.

Please note that data is not available for download. SAVER may, again, be configured to fit other data on a case by case basis, subject to programmer availability and interest.

SAVER training guide, manual and formats
SAVER training guide, manual and formats
Contains links allowing the download of the current training guide, some examples explained in a step-by-step manner, and a user's guide/manual. All of these are currently in DRAFT and will be updated periodically. Examples will be continually added to and enhanced.
