New Description ‑ US 65 and its extensions in Worth County described as follows:

 

Beginning on the Worth‑Cerro Gordo County line at a point near the S ¼ Corner Section 33‑T98N‑R20W Worth County, (N ¼ Corner Section 4‑T97N‑R20W, Cerro Gordo County); then northerly following substantially the center section line of Sections 33, 28, (junction Iowa 9), 21, 16, 9 and 4‑T98N‑R20W and Section 33‑T99N‑R20W to the south corporation line of Kensett, connecting with Maple Street.

 

Kensett:

 

Beginning on Maple Street at the south corporation line; then north on Maple Street to the north corporation line.

 

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Kensett connecting with Maple Street; then northerly following substantially the center section line of Sections 28, 21, 16 and 9‑T99N‑R20W to a point approximately 800 feet south of the center of Section 9‑T99N‑R20W; then in a northwesterly and northerly direction through Section 9 and 4‑T99N‑R20W to the south corporation line of Northwood, connecting with 10th Street.

 

Northwood:

 

Beginning on 10th Street at the south corporation line; then north on 10th Street to Central Avenue; then west on Central Avenue to 8th Street; then north on 8th Street to the north corporation line.

 

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Northwood connecting with 8th Street; then northerly through Section 21‑T100N‑R20W to a point approximately 1,100 feet north of the SE Corner Section 20‑T100N‑R20W; then in a northwesterly direction through Section 20, 17, 18 and 7‑T100N‑R20W to the Iowa‑Minnesota State line at a point approximately 1,000 feet east of the N ¼ Corner Section 7‑T100N‑R20W, Worth County.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

US 65 begins on the Worth‑Cerro Gordo County line approximately 2 ½ miles south and ½ mile west of Manly, and travels generally northerly via Kensett and Northwood to the Iowa‑Minnesota State line approximately 4 miles north and 1 mile west of Northwood, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records US 65 in Worth County should be deleted and the new description added should be included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of US 65 in Worth County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the City of Kensett connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Secs, 28, 21, 16, and 9‑T99N‑R20W to a point approximately 800 feet south of the center of Section 9‑T99N‑R20W; thence in a northwesterly and northerly direction through Section 9 and 4‑T99N‑R20W to the south corporation line of the City of Northwood, connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Northwood:

 

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly, westerly, and northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the Town of Northwood, connecting with Eighth Street; thence north to a point approximately ¼ mile north of the SE Corner Section 20­-T100‑R20; thence in a northwesterly direction along the east side of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway and sub­stantially parallel thereto, through Section 20, 17, 18 and 7‑T100N-­R20W to the Iowa‑Minnesota state line at a point approximately 1000 feet east of the N ¼ Corner Section 7‑T100N‑R20W.
