New Description - US 75 and its extensions in Woodbury County described as follows:

 

Sioux City:

 

Beginning on Interstate 129 at the Iowa-Nebraska State Line (west corporation line of Sioux City); then southeast on Interstate 129 to the interchange of Interstate 29 and US 20; then southeast on US 20 to the east corporation line (approximately N ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 17-T88N-R47W).

 

Beginning again on the east corporation line of Sioux City connecting with US 20 (approximately N ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 17-T88N-R47W); then east and northeast on US 20 through Section 17-T88N-R47W to the south corporation line of Sioux City.

 

Sioux City:

 

Beginning again on US 20 at the south corporation line; then northeast on US 20 to the east corporation line.

 

Beginning again on the east corporation line of Sioux City connecting with US 20; then in a northeasterly and northerly direction on US 20 through Section 4-T88N-R47W to junction of Iowa 12 (approximately 2240 feet east of the NW Corner Section 4-T88N-R47W), connecting with an unnamed street; then northeasterly and northwesterly on said unnamed street through Sections 31, 30, and 19-T89N-R46W to the south corporation line of Sioux City (approximately W ¼ Corner Section 19-T89N-R46W).

 

Sioux City:

 

Beginning on the south corporation line (approximately W ¼ Corner Section 19-T89N-R46W), connecting with an unnamed street; then northerly and northeasterly on said unnamed street to the north corporation line of Sioux City (Woodbury-Plymouth County Line) (near the NE Corner Section 1-T89N-R47W).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

US 75 has been relocated in the State of Nebraska from the Omaha‑Council Bluffs area to proceed northerly in Nebraska entering Iowa running duplicate with Interstate 129 at Sioux City.  In cooperation with the State of Nebraska the description of US 75 in Woodbury County should be revised to reflect this relocation.

 

US 75 begins on an unnamed street (Interstate 129) at the Iowa‑Nebraska State Line (west corporation line of Sioux City) and travels easterly, southerly, easterly, northerly and northeasterly via the City of Sioux City to the Woodbury‑Plymouth County Line (north corporation line of Sioux City).

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve revising the description of US 75 in Woodbury County and including the new description in the Primary Road System.

 

New Description ‑ US 75 and its extension in Woodbury County described as follows:

 

Sioux City:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street (Interstate 129) at the Iowa‑Nebraska State Line (west corporation line of Sioux City); then east on unnamed street (Interstate 129) to an unnamed street (1nterstate 29); then south on unnamed street (Interstate 29) to Industrial Road; then east on Industrial Road to S Lewis Blvd; then generally northerly on S Lewis Blvd to Lewis Blvd (junction Iowa 12); then northerly and northeasterly on Lewis Blvd to the north corporation line of Sioux City (Woodbury‑Plymouth County Line).

US 75 begins on the Woodbury‑Monona County line on Interstate 29 approximate­ly ½ mile west and 1 ½ miles south of Sloan, and travels generally northwesterly on Interstate 29 via Sergeant Bluff to a point in Sioux City, and then travels through Sioux City to the Woodbury‑Plymouth County line near the NE corner of Sioux City, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records US 75 in Woodbury County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of US 75 in Woodbury County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Sioux City:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street (Interstate 29) at the south corporation line (north corporation line of the City of Sergeant Bluff); thence northerly and northwesterly on said un­named street (Interstate 29) to a point in the SE ¼ Section 13‑T88N‑R48W (junction Interstate 29); thence generally northwesterly and northeasterly to the north corporation line (Woodbury‑Plymouth County line) connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on Industrial Road approximately 800 feet east and 800 feet south of the center of Section 13-T88N‑R48W; thence northeasterly on Industrial Road to South Lewis Road; thence northerly on South Lewis Road to Dace Avenue; thence northerly, northeasterly and northerly on an unnamed street to Plymouth Street; thence northerly on Plymouth Street to Fourteenth Street; thence northeasterly on an unnamed street to the east corporation line.

 

NOW, THEREFORE:  Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Commission approve the location of the extension of US 75 in Woodbury County, Iowa.

NOW THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Commission approve the revision of US 75 in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution. The section of old US 75 from Dace Avenue and South Lewis Road easterly and northerly to Second Street will revert to the Sioux City Street System in accord with Urban Policy 2600‑001­-E7, and the section from Second Street north to Third Street will be abandoned.
