Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 95-TJ-007 transferred a section of Unsigned Iowa 970 to the city of Sioux City on December 23, 1994.

 

At the same time 95-TJ-001 transferred a small section of the city street to the state.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description for Unsigned Iowa 970 be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be added to the Primary Road System.

 

New Description - Unsigned Iowa 970 in Woodbury County described as follows:

 

Beginning on the Woodbury-Monona County line on the east side of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway at a point approximately 700 feet west of the SE Corner of Section 32-T86N-R46W, Woodbury County, (NE Corner Section 5-T85N-R46W, Monona County); then northwest along the east side of said railway and substantially parallel thereto through Section 32-T86N-R46W (junction Iowa 141) to the south corporation line of Sloan, connecting with Johnson Street.

 

Beginning again on the west corporation line of Sloan connecting with Johnson Street on the east side of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway; then northwest along the east side of said railway and substantially parallel thereto through Sections 30, 19 and 18-T86N-R46W, Sections 13, 12, 1 and 2-T86N-R47W and Section 35-T87N-R47W to the east corporation line of Salix, connecting with an unnamed street.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑970‑0 (5) between the Iowa Department of Transportation and the City of Salix transferred the portion of Unsigned Iowa 970 in Salix to City jurisdiction on July 1, 1981.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ-970‑0(7) between the Iowa Department of Transportation and the City of Sioux City transferred the portion of Unsigned Iowa 970 in Sioux City from the south corporation line to US 75 to City jurisdiction on July 1, 1981.

 

The present description of Unsigned Iowa 970 in Woodbury County should be deleted and a new description should be included in the primary road system to reflect this change of jurisdiction.

 

Unsigned Iowa 970 begins on the Woodbury‑Monona County line approximately one mile southeast of the City of Sloan, and travels to US 75 in the City of Sioux City via the City of Salix.

 

Unsigned Iowa 970 in the remainder of Woodbury County remains unchanged.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve deleting the present description of Unsigned Iowa 970 in Woodbury County from the primary road system and approve including the attached new description of Unsigned Iowa 970 in the primary road system.

Unsigned Iowa 970 begins on the Woodbury‑Monona County line approximately 1 mile east and one and one‑half miles south of Sloan, and travels northwesterly via Sloan, Salix, and Sergeant Bluff to US 75 in Sioux City.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑970‑0(4) between the City of Sloan and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of Unsigned Iowa 970 in the City of Sloan to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1981.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑970‑0(6) between the City of Sergeant Bluff and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of Unsigned Iowa 970 in the City of Sergeant Bluff to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

Unsigned Iowa 970 in Woodbury County and in the cities of Salix and Sioux City remains unchanged.
