DISCUSSON/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 243 begins at a junction with Iowa 140 approximately 4 miles northeast of the City of Moville and proceeds easterly to the City of Pierson.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑243‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑97, between Woodbury County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 243 from a junction with Iowa 140 approximately ¼ mile west of the NE Corner of Section 10‑T89N‑R44W easterly to the west corporation line of the City of Pierson to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑243‑0(3)‑‑2M‑97, between the City of Pierson and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 243 from the west corporation line easterly and southeasterly to Second Street to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the description of Iowa 243 in Woodbury County, as attached, be deleted from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 243 and its extension in Woodbury County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately one‑fourth mile west of the NE Corner Section 10‑T89N‑R44W (junction Iowa 40); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 10, 11 and 12‑T89N‑R44W and Sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12‑T89N‑R43W to the west corporation line of the City of Pierson connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Pierson:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly and southeasterly to Second St.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 243 begins at Iowa 140 approximately 4 miles north and 3 miles east of Moville, and travels generally easterly to a point in Pierson, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 243 in Woodbury County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 243 in Woodbury County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
