TITLE: Iowa 139, Winneshiek County, Iowa

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 139 begins on the Winneshiek-Howard County line approximately 9 miles south of the NW corner of Winneshiek County, and travels generally northeasterly and northerly to the Iowa-Minnesota border approximately 3 ½ miles east of the NW corner of Winneshiek County, Iowa.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 139 in Winneshiek County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 139 in Winneshiek County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 139 in Winneshiek County as follows:

Beginning on the Winneshiek‑Howard County line at a point near the SW Corner Section 19-T99N-R10W, Winneshiek County, (SE Corner Section 24‑T99N‑R11W, Howard County) (junction Iowa 9); thence northerly along the Winneshiek‑Howard County line following substantially the section line of Sections 19 and 18‑T99N‑R10W to a point approximately 1000 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 18‑T99N‑R10W, Winneshiek County, (E ¼ Corner Section 13‑T99N-R11W, Howard County) thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 1000 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 18‑T99N‑R10W; thence easterly following substantially the center section line of Sections 18 and 17‑T99N‑R10W to a point approximately 300 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 17‑T99N‑R10W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 300 feet south of the center of the NW ¼ said Section 17; thence northerly through Sections 17 and 8‑T99N‑R10W to a point approximately 900 feet north of the center of the SW ¼ Section 8‑T99N‑R10W; thence in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 1100 feet south of the N ¼ Corner said Section 8; thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Sections 8 and 5‑T99N‑R10W to a point approximately 1100 feet south of the N ¼ Corner Section 5‑T99N-R10W; thence in a northeasterly and easterly direction through Section 5‑T99N‑R10W and Sections 32, 33, 28, and 27‑T100N‑R10W to a point approximately 300 feet south of the E ¼ Corner Section 27‑T100N‑R10W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 26, 23, 14, and 11‑T100N‑R10W to a point approximately 1200 feet south of the NW Corner Section 11‑T100N‑R10W; thence in a northeasterly direction through said Section 11 to the Iowa‑Minnesota State line at a point approximately 300 feet east of the NW Corner Section 11‑T100N‑R10W.

Beginning on the Winneshiek-Howard County line at a Point approximately 600 feet south of the NW Corner Section 30‑T99N-R10W, Winneshiek County, (NE Corner Section 25‑T99N‑R11W, Howard County) thence north along the Winneshiek‑Howard County line to a point approximately 600 feet north of the SW Corner Section 19‑T99N‑R10W, Winneshiek County (SE Corner Section 24‑T99N‑R11W, Howard County).

Junction of US 52 and Iowa 325.

Beginning at a point approximately ¼ mile east of the northwest corner of Section 23‑T97N‑R9W; thence south to a point approximately ¼ mile east and 600 feet south of the NW Corner Section 23‑T97N‑R9W.
