TITLE: Official Description Change: US 169 in Webster County

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:

Due to construction and the realignment of US 169 in Webster County in 1990, the official description should be changed to reflect this. At the same time transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 88-TJ-004 transferred the old section of US 169 to Webster County on 12-7-1990.

US 169 begins at the Boone-Webster County line and runs north and northwesterly through Fort Dodge and then northerly to the Webster-Humboldt County line.

PROPOSAL / ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the old description of US 169 in Webster County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description be included in the Primary Road System.

New Description - US 169 and its extension in Webster County described as follows:

Beginning on the Webster-Boone County line at a point near the SW Corner Section 34-T86NR28W Webster County (NW Corner Section 3-T85N-R28W Boone County); thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 34, 27, 22 and 15-T86N-R28W to a point near the NE Corner Section 16-T86N-R28W (east junction Iowa 175); thence west following substantially the section line of Sections 16, 17, and 18-T86N-R28W and Section 13-T86N-R29W to a point approximately 850 feet east of the SW Corner Section 12-T86N-R29W (west junction Iowa 175); thence curving northwest to a point approximately 850 feet north of the SW Corner said Section 12; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 12 and 1-T86N-R29W, Sections 36, 25, 24, 13, 12 and 1-T87N-R29W and Sections 36, 25, 24, 13 and 12-T88N-R29W to a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 11-T88N-R29W; thence in a northwesterly direction through Section 11 to a point near the W ¼ Corner NW ¼ of Section 2-T88N-R29W; thence northwesterly to a point near the SE Corner Section 36-T89N-R29W; thence north following substantially the section line of Section 31-T89N-R28W to a point approximately 850 feet south of the NE Corner Section 36-T89N-R29W; (junction US 20); thence north following substantially the section line of Section 31-T89N-R28W to the south corporation line of Fort Dodge, connecting with A Street West.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

US 169 begins on the Webster‑Boone County line approximately 3 ½ miles south and 2 miles west of Dayton, and travels generally northerly and westerly via Fort Dodge to the Webster‑Humboldt County line approximately 2 miles north and 4 miles west of Badger, Iowa.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records US 169 in Webster County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of US 169 in Webster County be deleted and the new description be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
