TITLE:  Official Description Change: Iowa 7 in Webster County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

A portion of the former route of Iowa 7 from the south junction of US 169 east to the old Junction of US 20 was re-designated Iowa 926 and the section that was a duplicate between the north and south junction of US 169 was dropped from the Primary Road System in 1990.

 

Iowa 7 begins at Webster-Calhoun County Line and travels southeasterly to the north junction US 169; then to south junction US 169; then to the junction US 20.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the old description of Iowa 7 in Webster County be deleted from the Primary Road System description, and the new description as described in the attachment be included in the Primary Road Description.

Beginning on the Webster-Calhoun County Line at a point approximately 700 feet north of the SW Corner Section 18-T89N-R30W Webster County (SE Corner Section 13-T89N-R31W Calhoun County); then in a southeasterly direction to a point approximately 900 feet west of the S ¼  Corner Section 18-T89N-R30W; then east following substantially the section line of Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24-T89N-R30W and Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24-T89N-R29W to a point approximately 850 feet east of the NW Corner Section 24-T89N-R29W (north junction US 169).

Beginning on the Webster‑Calhoun County line at a point approximately 700 feet north of the SW Corner Section 18‑T89N‑R30W Webster County (SE Corner Section 13‑T89N‑R31W Calhoun County); then in a southeasterly direction to a point approximately 900 feet west of the S ¼  Corner Section 18‑T89N‑R30W; then east following substantially the section line of Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24‑T89N‑R30W and Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24‑T89N‑R29W to a point approximately 850 feet east of the NW Corner Section 24‑T89N‑R29W (north junction US 169); then southeast through Section 24‑T89N‑R29W to the northwest corporation line of Fort Dodge, connecting with A Street West.

 

Fort Dodge:

 

Beginning on A Street West (US 169) at the northwest corporation line; then southeast on A Street West to 2nd Avenue; then northeast on 2nd Avenue to 8th Street; then south on 8th Street to Kenyon Road (junction US 20).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 7 begins on the Webster‑Calhoun County line approximately 9 miles south of the NW corner of Webster County, and travels generally easterly and southeast­erly to a point in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 7 in Webster County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 7 in Webster County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

 

Locate Iowa 7 and its extension in Webster County as follows:

 

Beginning on the Webster‑Calhoun County line at a point approximately 700 feet north of the SW Corner Section 18‑T89N‑R30W Webster County (SE Corner Section 13‑T89N‑R31W Calhoun County); thence in a southeasterly direction to a point approximately 900 feet west of the S ¼  Corner Section 18‑T89N‑R30W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24‑T89N‑R30W and Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 23; and 24‑T89N‑R29W to a point approximately 850 feet east of the NW Corner Section 24‑T89N‑R29W (junction US 169); thence southeasterly through Section 24‑T89N‑R29W to the north­west corporation line of the City of Fort Dodge connecting with an unnamed street.
