northeasterly through Sections 27, 22, and 15-T74N-R6W to approximately the

Unsigned Iowa 923 is three
separate pieces of old US 218. The south
piece is through, and north and south of Crawfordsville. The center piece is north and south of the
junction of Iowa 92 and the north piece is
from County Road G36 to the Johnson
County line.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It is
recommended the old description of Unsigned Iowa 923 in Washington County
be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described
in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road
System.

agreement number 91-TJ-006 between the Iowa Department of Transportation and Washington County transferred a section of Unsigned
Iowa 923 to the County on May 13, 1991 and should be removed from the Primary
Road System.
Unsigned Iowa 923 begins at the
junction of County Road G36 and runs northerly to the Washington-Johnson
County.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
US 218 has
been relocated from a junction with Iowa 22 in Washington County west and north
to the Washington‑Johnson County line and opened to traffic on November
12, 1982, and was functionally classified under the State Functional
Classification System on March 29, 1983.
The portion of old US 218 from Iowa 22 north to the Washington‑Johnson
County line should be re-designated as Unsigned Iowa 923 and its description
added to the Primary Road System.
Unsigned Iowa 923 begins at a junction with Iowa
22 approximately two miles east of the City of Riverside
and travels northerly to the Washington‑Johnson County line approximately
two miles east and two miles north of the City of Riverside.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It is
recommended to approve adding the description of Unsigned Iowa 923 in Washington County to the Primary Road System.
