DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 92 was relocated at its junction with US 218, just east of Ainsworth. A piece of old Iowa 92 will remain as Iowa 936.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 92 in Washington County and including the new description in the primary road system.

New Description - Iowa 92 and its extension in Washington County described as follows:

Beginning at the Washington-Keokuk County Line at a point near the NW Corner Section 6-T75N-R9W Washington County (NE Corner Section 1-T75N-R10W Keokuk County); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1-T75N-R9W and Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1-T75N-R8W to a point near the NE Corner Section 1-T75N-R8W (north junction Iowa 1); thence southerly following substantially the section line of Sections 6 and 7-T75N-R7W to the north corporation line of the City of Washington connecting with the extension of West Madison Street.

Washington:

Beginning on the extension of W. Madison Street at the north corporation line; thence southerly, southeasterly and easterly on W. Madison Street to 2nd Ave; thence north on 2nd Ave. to Washington Street; thence east on Washington Street to the east corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 92 begins on the Washington‑Keokuk County Line approximately two miles south and ½ mile east of Keota, and travels easterly, southerly and easterly via Washington and Ainsworth to the Washington-Louisa County Line approximately 3 ½ miles east of Ainsworth, Iowa.

A portion of Iowa 92 was annexed into the City of Washington on December 13, 1934. To reflect this annexation and to provide a more detailed description of the extensions of Iowa 92 in Washington and Ainsworth the official description of Iowa 92 in Washington County should be revised and the new description officially included in the primary road system.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 92 in Washington County and including the new description in the primary road system.

New Description ‑ Iowa 92 and its extensions in Washington County described as follows:

Beginning at the Washington‑Keokuk County Line at a point near the NW Corner Section 6‑T75N‑R9W Washington County (NE Corner Section 1‑T75N‑R10W Keokuk County); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1‑T75N‑R9W and Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1‑T75N‑R8W to a point near the NE Corner Section 1‑T75N‑R8W (north junction Iowa 1); thence southerly following substantially the section line of Sections 6 and 7‑T75N‑R7W to the north corporation line of the City of Washington connecting with the extension of W. Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 92 in Washington County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 92 in Washington County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
