Due to the relocation east of Ottumwa, the official route description in the Primary Road System should be revised to reflect this change.

 

New Description – US 63 and its extensions in Wapello County described as follows:

 

Beginning on the Wapello-Davis County line near the SE Corner of Section 36-T71N-R14W, Wapello County (NE Corner of Section 1-T70N-R14W, Davis County); thence north following substantially the east section line of Sections 36, 25, and 24-T71N-R14W to approximately 1260 feet south of the NE Corner of said Section 24-T71N-R14W; thence northeasterly and northerly through Sections 19, 18, 7, and 6-T71N-R13W and Section 31-T72N-R13W to the south corporation line of Ottumwa connecting with an unnamed street (approximately 740 feet north and 1800 feet east of the SW Corner of said Section 31-T72N-R13W).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to the relocation of US 63 north of Ottumwa, and the rerouting of US 63, Iowa 23, Iowa 149 and Iowa 137, US 63 is being routed over the section of road from north of Ottumwa to Eddyville.  Part of the rerouting is on a new relocated section and part was formerly Iowa 23.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of US 63 in Wapello County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records US 63 in Wapello County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.
