New Description – Iowa 149 and its extensions in Wapello County described as follows:

Ottumwa:

Beginning at the junction of US 34 on Wapello Street; thence northeasterly and northerly on Wapello Street to the north corporation line (approximately 1280 feet north of the SW Corner of Section 31-T73N-R13W).

Beginning on the north corporation line connecting with unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 31, 30, 19, 18, 7, and 6-T73N-R13W to the Wapello-Keokuk County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 6-T73N-R13W, Wapello County (SW Corner Section 31-T74N-R13W, Keokuk County) (SE Corner Section 36-T74N-R14W, Mahaska County).

TITLE: Official Description: Iowa 149 in Wapello County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the relocation of US 63 north of Ottumwa, and the changing of Iowa 137, US 63, and Iowa 23, Iowa 149 is being extended to the junction of relocated US 63.

Iowa 149 begins at the junction of relocated US 63 and runs northerly to the Mahaska-Keokuk County line.

This road was formerly US 63.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the description of Iowa 149 in Wapello County, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

Beginning at the junction of US 63, 76 meters (249 feet) north of the NW Corner Section 31-T73N-R13W; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 30, 19, 18, 7, 6-T73N-R13W to the Wapello-Keokuk County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 6-T73N-R13W, Wapello County (SW Corner Section 31-T74N-R13W, Keokuk County) (SE Corner Section 36-T74N-R14W, Mahaska County).
