TITLE: Official Description Change: Iowa 79, Van Buren County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 79 begins at a junction with Iowa 2 approximately one‑and one‑half miles south of the City of Bonaparte and proceeds north to the City of Bonaparte.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑079‑0(3)‑‑2M‑89, between Van Buren County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 79 from a junction with Iowa 2 approximately 700 feet south of the Center of Section 20‑T68N‑R8W north to the south corporation line of the City of Bonaparte to county jurisdiction on July 28, 1980.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑079‑0(4)‑‑2M‑89, between the City of Bonaparte and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 79 from the south corporation line of the City of Bonaparte north and east to Washington Street to city jurisdiction on August 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 79 in Van Buren County from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 79 and its extension in Van Buren County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 700 feet south of the center of Section 20‑T68N‑R8W (junction Iowa 2); thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Sections 20 and 17‑T68N‑R8W to the south corporation line of the City of Bonaparte connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Bonaparte:

 

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly and easterly to Washington Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 79 begins at Iowa 2 approximately 1 ˝ miles south of Bonaparte, and travels northerly and easterly to a point in Bonaparte, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 79 in Van Buren County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 79 in Van Buren County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
