Beginning at a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 19‑T68N‑R9W (junction Iowa 2); thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 19, 18, 7 and 6‑T68N‑R9W to a point approximately 600 feet north of the SE Corner Section 1‑T68N‑R10W; thence curving in a northwesterly direction through said Section 1 to the south corporation line of Keosauqua, connecting with Main Street.

 

Keosauqua:

 

Beginning on Main Street at the south corporation line; thence northwest on Main Street to Broad Street; thence northeast and north on Broad Street to the north corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 1 begins at Iowa 2 approximately 4 miles south and one mile east of Keosauqua and travels generally northerly via Keosauqua and Birmingham to the Van Buren‑Jefferson County line approximately 1 ½ miles north of Birmingham, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 1 in Van Buren County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 1 in Van Buren County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

 

Locate Iowa 1 and its extensions in Van Buren County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 19‑T68N‑R9W (junction Iowa 2); thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 19, 18, 7, and 6‑T68N‑R9W to a point approximately 600 feet north of the SE Corner Section 1‑T68N‑R10W; thence curving in a northwesterly direction through said Section 1 to the south corporation line of the City of Keosauqua connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning at a point near the SE Corner Section 1‑T68N‑R10W; thence northwesterly to the south corporation line of the Town of Keosauqua, connecting with Main Street.

 

NOW THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Commission approve the revision of the above Primary Road Des­cription.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.

 

The old location of Iowa 1, from Sta. 872+02.4, northerly approximately 4,210.8 feet to Sta. 914+13.2 will revert to the Van Buren County Secondary Road System in accord with Section 313.2 Code of Iowa.
