Garwin:

Beginning on Center Street at the east line of 3rd Street; thence east on Center Street to the east corporation line.

Beginning on the east corporation line of Garwin connecting with Center Street; thence east following substantially the section line of Section 13‑T84N‑R16W to a point approximately 800 feet west of the SE Corner Section 12‑T84N‑R16W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through said Section 12 to a point approximately 800 feet north of the SE Corner Section 12‑T84N‑R16W; thence north following substantially the section line of Section 7‑T84N‑R15W to a point approximately 750 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 7‑T84N‑R15W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through said Section 7 to a point approximately 650 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 7‑T84N‑R15W; thence east following substantially the center section line of Sections 7, 8, 9 and 10‑T84N‑R15W to a point near the center of Section 10‑T84N‑R15W (junction US 63).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 229 begins in Garwin, and travels generally easterly to US 63 approximately 5 miles east and ½ mile north of Garwin, Iowa.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 229 in Tama County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 229 in Tama County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included into the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 229 and its extension in Tama County as follows:

Garwin:

Beginning on an unnamed street at Third Street; thence easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Garwin connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 13T84N‑R16W to a point approximately 800 feet west of the SE Corner Section 12‑T84N‑R16W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through said Section 12 to a point approximately 800 feet north of the SE Corner Section 12‑T84N‑R16W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 7‑T84N‑R15W to a point approximately 750 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 7‑T84N‑R15W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through said Section 7 to a point approximately 650 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 7-T84N‑R15W; thence easterly following substantially the center section line of Sections 7, 8, 9, and 10‑T84N‑R15W to a point near the center of Section 10‑T84N‑R15W (junction US 63).

Commencing on Center Street at the east line of Third Street; thence east on Center Street to the east corporation line.

Beginning on the east corporation line of the Town of Garwin, connecting with Center Street; thence east following substantially the section line to a point approximately 800 feet west of the SE Corner Section 12‑T78N‑R16W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 800 feet north of the SE Corner Section 12‑T84N‑R16W; thence north to a point approximately 750 feet south of the E ¼ Corner Section 12‑T84N‑R16W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 650 feet east of E ¼ Corner Section T84N-R16W; thence east following substantially the quarter section line to a point near the center of Section 10‑T84N‑R15W, (junction US 63).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Commission approve the location of the extension of Iowa 229 in Tama County, Iowa.

NOTE: In accordance with agreement #71‑A‑151 and completion of Project FN‑229‑1 (1)‑21‑86, the extension of Iowa 229 on Main Street between Second and Third Street and on Third Street between Main and Center Street will revert to the local city street system of Garwin to become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
